Product Service Type

Each Product in the Tourplan Database must have a Service Type.

The Service Type is used to group services of a similar type together – e.g., AC = Accommodation etc. The number of service codes required should be kept to a minimum – in other words, it’s not necessary to have a code of HO – Hotels, MO – Motels, GH – Guesthouse etc. These can all be covered under the AC – Accommodation code and a breakdown can be obtained for analysis purposes by using the Analysis Codes inside the Product. See ‘Database Analysis Codes’.

To add a Service Type first select ‘System’ from the Tourplan main menu and then ‘CodeMaint’. Then select ‘Service’ from the CodeMaint module side-bar menu as shown below.

Screen Shot 3: CodeMaint – Service Codes

The column headings at the top of the scroll are the only column headings available in this screen. Not all columns are visible – use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to view the non-visible columns.

The column headings ‘Service Region’ and ‘Pass Type’ are user defined labels for two of the three available Database Analysis codes. If labels have not been defined (INIMaint/System) for these Analysis Codes, the default labels of DBAnalysis1 – DBAnalysis3 are used.

When ‘Service’ is clicked on the side-bar menu, a list of existing Service Codes/Descriptions displays.

To insert a new Service Code/Description, click on the Insert button in the Button bar.

Screen Shot 4: Insert New Service Code

A ‘Service’ dialogue box will display. The fields are:

Code (2 Char)

Enter a 2 letter Service Type code.

Description (40 Char)

Enter the Service Description.

Database Analysis Codes 1,2,3 (2 Char)

The three Analysis codes are not used in Tourplan for locating a Product, when in a booking or quote. They are for use where Products could be sub-grouped for more detailed reporting analysis. These three codes are displayed in this Service Type maintenance screen so that one or more default Database Analysis codes can be applied to a Service Type. For example one of the three Database Analysis codes could be used to break down a Service Type code of AC (Accommodation) into HO = Hotel, MO = Motel, GH = Guest House. This screen can then be used to set the default Database Analysis Code 1 value for all Accommodation to HO (Hotel). This default value can be overridden at the Product level in the Tourplan Database module.

Button (4 Num)

The ‘Button” numbers can only be used if Button Maps have been configured for the Tourplan webConnect internet booking system.

Click the OK button to complete.

Note that when the OK button is clicked the Code and Description fields clear ready for another code and description to be entered

To return to the updated list of Service codes click on the Cancel button.
